Macau is a 1 hour and 30 minutes ferry ride from Hong Kong. We decided to have a short trip and see the beauty of Macau. I prepared our itinerary for that day but I suggest if you have time, you do an overnight trip to Macau to enjoy the place (here is the detailed Macau itinerary). Upon arrival, there are a lot of hotel staffs that welcomes you. One thing I like about Macau transportation is free. Each hotel offers a free shuttle service to the hotel and around city.
Galaxy Hotel was our first stop.
Look at these criptonites, it reminds me of the movie Superman.
From Galaxy Hotel you can ride the bus going to San Man Lo (Senado Square).
Senado Square
I found the shop where they shot the scene of Boys over flowers.
Guem Jandi and Jihoo were buying egg tarts in this shop.
Tea Plus egg tarts were okay but I like Koi Kei Bakery egg tarts more!
The famous St. Paul Ruins
You can buy some souvenir items around the area. They do accept HKD, but make sure to check the change is HKD not MOP.
Our second hotel destination was Venetian.
Am I in Venice? I love everything about this place. Would you believe that its already 8 p.m. when I took this photo.
Do you remember this bridge? It is where they shot the breakup scene of Gu Junpyo and Guem Jandi of Boys over flowers. *Kdrama fan mode*
It was a short trip to Macau but my family and I enjoyed the city. Stay tuned for more Hong Kong post! Thanks for reading. ♥

Hi Alyssa, what a great post you have here – very informative!
We are going to HK next month and planning a one-day side trip to Macau. I have a few questions though, I hope you could be of help. 🙂
– What time do you suggest for us to leave HK for Macau?
– How much does a round trip ferry ticket cost for adults and kids?
– What restaurant can you recommend that serve good food for lunch/dinner that is also affordable?
– We are planning to leave Macau at 8PM, are there still ferries that could take us back to HK during this hour?
Sorry if the questions are a bit overwhelming for you. I’ve been reading a lot of blogs but most of them, if not detailed, are not current. Thank you so much in advance! 🙂

Hi Maye!
Here’s my answer to your questions:
1. I suggest you leave around 8 A.M. You’ll arrive in Macau around 9 A.M.
2. Ferry ticket cost 164HKD (day sailing) 200HKD (night sailing). You can check the time and rates in the Turbojet website.
3. I haven’t tried much restaurants around Macau but there are restaurants around St. Paul Ruins if your planning to have your lunch there. We had our dinner at the Venetian food court and it cost around 50-80HKD per meal. Don’t worry there are variations of food there.
4. Yes! They are still ferry rides until 11pm.
Hope this helps. Thanks for dropping by. =)

Hi Alyssa! Thank you for this blogpost 🙂 This will be a lot of help for me in creating our itinerary in HK.
Just wanted to ask what hotel you have stayed in HK? Or maybe you wanted to recommend some. Thank you!
Alyssa
Hello Pau! I’m glad that my blog post helped you. You can check Agoda.com or Booking.com for hotels. If your looking for an affordable hotel in Hong Kong, I recommend you stay near Yau Ma Tei or Jordan area. 🙂
