Four years ago, I prayed to God that I may celebrate my birthday in Seoul but the timing isn’t right. There is a saying “God’s perfect timing”, you just have to wait for God’s perfect timing and He will say YES to your prayers. It was such a blessing from God that I could celebrate my birthday in South Korea. Traveling with my mom is one of the greatest gift God gave me. It was a mother-daughter bonding time.
Nature trip is our itinerary on my birthday – Namiseom or Nami Island. Place of my favorite Korean drama when I was in high school, “Winter Sonata”.
Tips on how to go to Nami Island:
From subway transfer to Cheongnyangni station, take ITX to Gapyeong station: 4,000 KRW
From Gapyeong station, ride a taxi to Gapyeong port: 3,000 KRW
Ride a ferry boat to Nami Island: 8.000 KRW
Cheongnyangni Station beside Lotte Department Store.
Their train station is so nice! Purchase ITX ticket to Gapyeong station. Don’t worry they speak English. =)
From Gapyeong Station, take a taxi to Gapyeong port. There are also bus available which cost 5,000 KRW good for one day.
From Gapyeong port, you can choose which transportation you will use to Nami Island: Zip-wire or Ferry boat.
If you watched We Got Married, Leeteuk and Kang Sora rode the zip-wire.
We decided to take the Ferry boat.
It was my first time to ride a ferry. It only took 5 minutes to reach the island.
Finally, Nami Island!
Where to go first?
Say hello to the wild Ostrich!
Its amazing how the island is not only about the Winter Sonata, also they have the UNICEF hall and gallery of artworks.
MBC broadcasting station is one of the coolest place i saw in Nami. They have a studio here which you can become a news anchor.
We had lunch here at the Winter Sonata Cafe. They serve authentic Korean lunch box.
Tuna lunchbox. Its super delicious! =) Just make sure to shake the lunchbox. You’ll discover after shaking the food tastes so good!

Experiencing how to warm myself for a moment in a traditional way.
If you want to stay overnight, they have hotels available. Visit www.namisum.com
Inside the Nami shop there is a replica of the snowman Joon Sang and Yoo Jin made in the drama.
I’ve seen a lot of ceramic dolls in Korea. Their craftsmanship is impeccable.
Me and my snow friends. Wish I could take them to Manila to bring happiness. ^_^ It was a fun filled day in Nami Island. I am blessed to see this wonderful creation that God has made. Will travel back to Seoul tired but happy.
